About Heidi:

Heidi graduated in 2011 from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelor of Music (BMus) in Composition. She studied with five very talented composers: Elmer Takeo Kudo, Byron Yasui, Donald Reid Womack, Thomas Osborne, and John Seymour. As a composer, she enjoys writing original works for various instrumentations. In April 2011, she participated in the first music division of Honolulu Academy of Arts' Orvis Artist-in-Residence program where she had the opportunity to work with several composers to create art-inspired original compositions.

Her principal instrument is the clarinet which she has played for 12 years. She studied with Henry Miyamura, a noted clarinetist, teacher, and director, and James Moffitt, the associate principal clarinetist for the Honolulu Symphony for nearly 30 years.

Along with clarinet, she very much enjoys singing. She has performed with several choirs throughout the Hawaiian Islands as both choir member and soloist. She had the wonderful opportunity to perform with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Chorus as well as widely renowned vocalists such as Sumi Jo, Eric Brenner, Quinn Kelsey, and Brian Stucki.

Currently, Heidi can be found working on transcription projects, arrangements, and composing original works. She also teaches private lessons in various music topics around the Sacramento area. If you are interested in music lessons, please visit the lessons section here.
